“The name of Yahweh is a strong tower”

(Proverbs 18.10)

The Christian sings.

And smiles…

… every time he sees the sun rising

… every time he sees a flower in bloom

… every time he hears the wind blow

… because for him everything is a miracle.

A miracle of God’s love.

The Christian sings.

And smiles…

… every time he meets his brother.

And like the Samaritan he knows how to dirty his beast and his hands.

He does not think it twice to bandage the wounds

to wipe the tears

to heal the sick

to comfort the sad.

And he does not expect anything in return.

He will receive thanks from His Father in Heaven.

The Christian sings.

and smiles…

… because for him everything is a masterpiece of art.

He knows that the world he loves so much

is not condemned to vanish

because it has been redeemed with the blood of Jesus Christ.

The Christian sings because Easter is in his heart.

There is the victory of the Resurrection dazzling inside him.

The Christian walks with his feet on the ground,

but his heart is already in Heaven.

He walks and walks

while spreading the seed of hope

even on the dark hard asphalt under his feet.

The Christian believes….

No, not in money-politics-career-work-buildings.

He believes in God.

In a God he does not understand

because He is bigger, much bigger, than his mind.

In a God he understands

because He is so close to him

that He can’t live without him.

In the God who is love,

In the God who wants to fill His heart.

The Christian is a lover.

A lover of God.

In fact he is just crazy about Him!

He has such a strong craving to live tuned always to Him.

A strong desire to bathe in His presence.

A deep ache to trust Him always.

The Christian knows that the story of his life is moving towards the final victory.

So he continues to hope

even when the sky of his life is full of clouds

even when the darkness of the night of his life is pitch black

even when the ignorance of the evil around him is thick

even when the arrogance of the powerful is mean.

He knows that these are not the last word.

They can’t be the last word.

Since His Father is the Lord of history.

and Jesus Christ, his brother, rose from the dead.

and the Holy Spirit descended from heaven and is His inner strength

then everything is possible.

The Christian knows that the weakness of love

is more powerful than the power of evil.

So he continues to forgive where there is no forgiveness

to hope where there is no hope

to be patient where there is no patience

to believe where there is no faith.

He knows that love never dies.

The Christian sings.

and smiles… yes.

Enthusiastically and with gusto.

“Daniel said:

May the name of God be blessed

for ever and ever,

since wisdom and power are his alone.

It is he who controls the procession of times and seasons,

who makes and unmakes kings,

who confers wisdom in the wise,

and knowledge on those with discernment,

who uncovers depths and mysteries,

who knows what lies in darkness;

And light dwells with him.

To you, God of my fathers,

I give thanks and praise.”

(Daniel 2, 20-23)
